Daryl G Houser Jr was born and raised in Hazleton, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Hazleton Area High School | Hazleton Area Career Center with concentrations in Collision Repair, Welding and Small Business Management. Daryl enlisted in the U.S. Navy during his senior year and reported to basic training in Great Lakes, Illionis the day after graduating high school. Upon basic training graduation Daryl attended Basic Engineering Common Core, Damage Control and Hull Maintenance Technician "A" school at Naval Education Training Center Great Lakes, llinois.
His first assignment was USS Ashland LSD-48 home ported at Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Daryl completed two deployments with the Ashland. First to the Persian Gulf/Mediterranean in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and the War on Terrorism and again to the Horn of Africa conducting anti- piracy operations. From there he reported to Naval Operational Support Center Avoca in Avoca, Pennsylvania as the Command Fire Marshal and Executive Officer of the SS-238 Wahoo Division Sea Cadet detachment. He reported for his first recruiting assignment as a recruiter at Navy Recruiting Station Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania NAVCRUITDIST Pittsburgh. While at NRD Pittsburgh Daryl converted from a Hull Maintenance Technician to a Navy Counsoler Career Recruiter Force, and was transferred to NRS Scranton, Pennsylvania as the Leading Petty Officer. After winning "Large Station of the Year" and "Sailor of the Year" Daryl attended the Career Recruiting Force Academy at Naval Air Station Pensacola in Pensacola, Florida for six weeks of school. Upon graduating the CRF Academy he reported to NRD Richmond as the LPO of NRS Fairfax, Virginia. In 2016 Daryl was selected for the rank of Chief Petty Officer and transferred to a Division Leading Chief Petty Officer role within NRD Richmond. He completed his Naval service as the NROTC Scholarship Coordinator at NRD Richmond.
His personal awards include Navy and Marines Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marines Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), Navy Good Conduct Medal (three awards), Navy Reserves Good Conduct Medal, Combat Action Ribbon and numerous other campaign and unit awards.
Daryl is married to his lovely wife Lindsey, and has two highly energetic sons DJ and Bentley and a Beagle named Harley. He is a lover of 60's/70's Dodge and Plymouth muscle cars, street rods, street machines and Harley Davidson motorcycles. In his free time Daryl enjoys watching his son DJ play soccer and attending car shows and swap meets with his family.
